Iran’s push for more influence in the Mideast poses a growing national security challenge for the U.S. and Western nations, as the U.S. threatens to pull out of the Iran Nuclear deal and the civil war in Syria rages on with the Assad regime being propped up with the help of Iran.

Karim Sadjadpour is a senior fellow at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, where he focuses on Iran and U.S. foreign policy toward the Middle East. He previously served on the International crisis group as the chief Iran analyst. He has briefed U.S., EU and Asian officials about Middle Eastern affairs. Sadjadpour is a regular contributor to publications, TV, and radio shows.
